Reptiles are a class of vertebrates with dry, cornified skin which distinguishes them from the amphibians and fishes, and ectothemic metabolism (body temperature dependent on the emperature of the enbironment) which distinguishes them from birds and mammals.

Of the four orders of reptiles, three are will represented in South Africa: the shelled reptiles (tortoises) the scaled reptiles (snakes and lizards) and the crocodiles (crocodilians).

Ishona Langa Wildlife Sanctuary is a home to a large variety of these three orders and is an absulote haven for anyone who is intrested in seeing these creatures in their natrual wild habitat.
